Work from Home Setup.

Anong recommended nyo setup para sa work from home pero yung mobile ka, yung pwede ka lumipat ng ibat ibang lugar. Yung setup ko ngayon is desktop, tapos dual monitor since i'm a civil designer. mostly autodesk product ang software.

Anong recommended nyo na laptop (pwede sa autodesk) at monitors, yung may case sana para madala ko kahit saan. Wala e, para akong nakapako dito sa workstation ko.

Thanks in advance.

May nakikita akong three choices na naglalaro sa tatlong characteristics: reliability, mobility, cost

1) Small Form Factor PCs (Mini PCs): This is your normal PC pero small lang ang form factor para madaling dalhin kung saan saan. Yung use case mo kasi mataas na specs ang kailangan kaya medyo mahirap maging mobile. Kung gusto mong no difference in performance with your desktop workstation, small form factor is the way to go. Ang nakikita ko lang cons dito ay need pa rin ng AC power supply ng mga small form factor so kahit light sya compared sa desktop workstation, hindi mo pa rin magagamit on-the-go (like inside the car or in the airport). Sa tingin ko yung ganitong setup ay perfect para sa mga photographers and video editors since usually may available AC power supply sila on-site.

2) Beefy Laptops: The thing about AutoDesk ay matakaw sya sa resources. Kaya nga sa mga workstation sya inilalagay. Hindi mo makukuha sa laptop yung same performance na makukuha workstation at the same price point. Parang sina-sacrifice mo yung slight decrease in performance para sa mobility. Syempre since laptop runs on batteries, pwedeng pwede ito on-the-go. The cons about this ay yung price nya for the same specs as a workstation ay mas mataas.

3) Remote Desktops: Sa setup na ito, gagamitin mo pa rin yung workstation mo sa bahay pero remotely. Ang pros nito ay hindi mawawala yung performance na nakasanayan mo and hindi mo na kailangan bumili ng additional devices. Pwedeng pwede mo kabitan ng portable monitor, keyboard, and mouse yung smart phone mo and then connect remotely sa workstation mo at home. Ang cons lang nito ay super dependent nya internet connection at yung availability ng remote workstation. No internet? Unable to work. Mabagal internet mo? Lag. Nag-brownout sa bahay nyo or internet outage? Unable to work.

Sa lahat ng choices na 'to, laging available yung option na gumamit ng portable monitors to compensate dun sa dual monitor setup mo.

TLDR:  Mini PCs (cost effective, very reliable, less mobile), beefy laptops (expensive upfront, reliable, mobile), and remote desktops (cheap, reliable but with condition, available on any device and anywhere).

Ang recommendation ko sayo ay to go with a laptop. Expensive lang yung upfront pero reliable with slight decrease in performance pero very mobile. Hindi pa kasi ganun ka stable ang mga internet sa provinces kaya mahirap pa mag-remote desktop. Kung hindi ka naman nagt-trabaho on-the-go (airport or car), go with the small form factor.

As for the specs ng laptop, you should share yung current specs ng workstation mo para matapatan.
